Dr. Mark Mitchnick

Dr. Mark Mitchnick has been a board member of SHY Therapeutics since its founding in 2015. He is an experienced small molecule drug development expert, serial entrepreneur, and pediatrician.

Most recently, Dr. Mitchnick served as the CEO of MindSciences, a developer of digital therapeutics using mindfulness techniques to improve health and well-being. MindSciences was sold to Sharecare in 2020. Prior to this, he was the CEO of Particle Sciences, a contract drug development and manufacturing company he founded in 1998 and sold to Lubrizol in 2015. Before Particle Sciences, Dr. Mitchnick founded sunSmart, Inc., a small molecule specialty chemicals company sold to BASF in 1998.

Dr. Mitchnick holds approximately 30 issued and pending patents related to large molecules, vaccines, antibody-drug conjugates, drug delivery, surface chemistry, diagnostics, medical devices, and digital therapeutics.

From 2003 to 2006, Dr. Mitchnick served as the Chief Scientific Officer of the International Partnership for Microbicides (IPM) and currently sits on its board. IPM is a non-profit drug developer focused on woman-controlled methods for HIV prevention.

Dr. Mitchnick earned a BS in Animal Sciences from Purdue University and an MD from Georgetown University Medical School. He completed his residency in pediatrics at The New York Hospital, Cornell University Medical Center, and has practiced medicine in the US and developing countries
